Instagram Ending Basic API Support

Instagram Basic API Sunsetting

As of December 4th 2024, Meta has ended support for their Instagram Basic Display API (used by 3rd party integrations) along with 3rd party support for Instagram Personal accounts.

As a Create customer, this might impact your website if you are using integrations such as Behold or LightWidget to display your Instagram photos on your website. If you take no action, the integrations will stop working and no longer show your Instagram photos on your website.

What Do I Need To Do?

To resolve this, there are two actions you need to take. The first is converting your Instagram Personal account to a Business Account. The second is to re-connect your Instagram account to your chosen application, such as Behold or LightWidget. Helpfully, both platforms we recommend have made this process quite easy to complete, regardless of which one you are using.

If you are using Behold to display your Instagram photos on your Create website, please refer to this blog post and follow their instructions.

If you are using LightWidget to display your Instagram photos on your Create website, please refer to this blog post and follow their instructions.

I'm Still Using The Create Instagram Integration

As a reminder, the default Create Instagram integration was sunset earlier this year. If you have yet to migrate over to either Behold or LightWidget your Instagram photos will not be displaying on your website.

For further information on the platforms we recommend, please refer to this help guide for further details.

If you have any questions about the above, just get in touch with your Account Manager for further advice.
