Domain Names Overview

This quick overview of Domain Names should provide you with everything you need to know about domain name basics, how they function with your website and how they can be used for email.

What Domain Name Should I Choose And How Much Do They Cost?

Domain names are made up of two components, a domain 'name' and a domain 'attachment'. The part highlighted in bold is your 'name' and the part in italics is your 'extension, for example, yourdomain.co.uk.

Depending on whether your name has been taken, you can generally have anything for this part of your domain name, we would recommend having something fairly short and memorable, but still gives off an idea of the service you provide.

Below are the domain names Create offers and the prices for the two year registration period, after the two years, you will need to renew your domain name which costs the same as a registration. Applicable VAT applies to all domain prices. Below are the prices, excluding VAT, as well as the cost for UK registrants (charged at 20%).

Where Can I Get A Domain Name And How Does It Work With My Site?

It is completely up to you where you register your domain name, however, we recommend registering your domain name through Create, as this will help you manage everything under one roof. When you register a domain name via your Create account (click here for info on how to do so), your domain name will be registered for two years at the prices mentioned above and should start functioning with your site within 24 hours.

If you choose to register your domain name elsewhere, or already have a domain name that you would like to use, then you will need to either point your domain name to us or fully transfer your domain name to Create. If you need further information on this or require a transfer, please contact your Customer Account Manager via the Help & Support area in your account.

Can I Use My Domain Name For An Email Address?

Whether you have your domain name registered elsewhere or with Create, then there should always be an email service open to you so that you can obtain a domain name email address, for example, info@yourdomainname.co.uk.  If you have your domain name registered with Create, then you can find out step by step information on how to set up your domain name email address by clicking here.
